Cheque presentation to Aquabox

On Thursday morning, 10th October, at the Cromford Hill depot of Aquabox*, two members of the organising committee of Ashbourne CAMRA's 2019 Beer & Cider Festival presented a cheque for £453.15 to two of the Wirksworth-based charity's trustees.  Festival organiser Graham Burke and treasurer Colin Terry were given a tour of the depot by Ashbourne CAMRA member John Chamberlin, who also volunteers at Aquabox each week as part of the team who assemble their 'Aquafilter Family Units'.

Since its formation in 1992, Aquabox has sent more than 110,000 aid boxes to more than 50 countries around the world, helping hundreds of thousands of people in times of crisis.  As well as an 'Aquafilter' water-filtration unit, each Aquabox contains a variety of humanitarian aid items, including cooking utensils, hygiene equipment, tools, shelter materials, baby and children's clothing and educational items.  The charity relies entirely on donations and the fundraising activities of its supporters to fund its work and purchase the items which they supply in the aid boxes.  Without the generosity of these supporters, Aquabox would not be able to continue this work.

The cheque, presented by Colin and Graham to Aquabox trustees Roz Adamson and Roger Cassidy, represented to total of all the generous donations from the attendees at last month's annual Ashbourne Beer & Cider Festival, and is the second time Ashbourne CAMRA have made substantial donations to the Aquabox charity.

Formed in March 2012, the Ashbourne & District Branch of CAMRA, a sub-branch of Derby Branch, welcomes new members to its monthly meetings, normally held in a different pub each time on the last Tuesday of the month.  More information can be found on the branch's website:
